MARTHA IRVINE
WORSHIP LEADER // SONGWRITER // VOCAL COACH
Born into a musical family, Martha has loved to sing for as long as she can remember. Her first solo, when she was two years old, was intended to be a duet with her big sister. From what her parents say, she took the microphone away and sang her own song! She started playing guitar at age 13 and quickly fell in love with the freedom she felt in communicating to audiences through music.
Martha has been teaching private voice and singing related courses privately and at the college level for the past ten years. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Arizona Christian University, in Phoenix, AZ, and her Master’s degree in Contemporary Commercial Voice Pedagogy from Shenandoah University, in Winchester, VA. She is also certified in all levels of Somatic Voicework™ /The LoVetri Method for Contemporary Commercial Voice. She has studied and performed a diverse selection of solo music including selections from Rock, Pop, Jazz/Blues, Country, Folk, Musical Theater, Christian and Classical styles. Her eclectic love for musical styles, functional vocal technique, and song writing influences her ability to train and coach singers to find their own unique vocal identity.
Martha's love for song writing was birthed out of jam sessions in
high school with her best friends turned bandmates. This passion has continued to be fueled long after that group disbanded. Her most recent EP, Anxious For Nothing: A Trust Project, released in 2019. The songs are a heart cry for God to meet us in the messy places and find rest in Him!
Martha has over twenty years of worship leading experience and as a sought after performing artist, she regularly sings for churches, retreats, and events. She loves nothing more than to lead others into His presence. She is currently the worship leader at Pinnacle Community Church in Phoenix, AZ and has a thriving private voice studio. When she is not playing music you can find her sitting in a quiet corner with a good book, her Bible, and a cup o' joe.
